Trump Sanctions International Criminal Court

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing visa and financial sanctions on individuals assisting the International Criminal Court (ICC) in investigations against the U.S. and its allies, including Israel.

The executive order protects current and former U.S. military personnel, government officials, and foreign nationals from U.S. allies that reject ICC jurisdiction. This includes allied military members, government officials, and individuals working on their behalf.

A White House fact sheet asserts that the ICC’s actions against the U.S. over incidents in Afghanistan and Israel’s security measures in Palestinian territories violate national sovereignty and security interests.

The executive order further declares that any ICC attempt to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute protected individuals constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to U.S. national security and foreign policy.

According to the executive order, President Trump accused the International Criminal Court (ICC) of abusing its power by issuing “baseless arrest warrants” against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

“The ICC has no jurisdiction over the United States or Israel, as neither country is a party to the Rome Statute or a member of the ICC,” the order stated. “Neither country has ever recognized the ICC’s jurisdiction, and both nations are thriving democracies with militaries that strictly adhere to the laws of war.”
