Come Let Us Return Unto The Lord

Next week begins the fall season and appointed times (Moadim) of the Lord. These times are the most celebrated in the Jewish community throughout the world…even now, the population in Israel is increasing leading up to Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) as it does every year. The season has been prefaced by 30 days of Teshuvah (Repentance/Returning to the Lord – which we are in right now) – and today we are on the precipice of the 10 Days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement – which is the day where repentance is fulfilled in atonement for sin in the entire people of God – We know we have this in Yeshua/Jesus through His blood but lets look at the specifics as the civil tradition of Rosh Hashanah, and a Biblical celebration of Yom Teruah – the day of the blowing of the Shofar – or commonly called Feast of Trumpets (Wednesday evening October 2nd) will be followed by the 10 Days of Awe leading to Yom Kippur.

It is a signal of announcement and warning – that for the next 10 days leading to Yom Kippur – the day of Atonement – these are days of Awe and introspection; making sure we are ready to meet the Messiah if He were to come this season. Yom Teruah provides a clue as to its purpose. Teruah literally means to make a loud noise. This word can describe the noise made by a trumpet but it also describes the noise made by a large gathering of people shouting in unison (Numbers 10:5–6).

Some examples in Scripture regarding the Shofar/Ram’s horn: “And it shall come to pass when the ram’s horn makes a long blast, when you hear the sound of the shofar, the entire nation will shout a great shout, and the wall of the city shall fall in its place, and the people shall go up as one man against it.” -Joshua 6:5.In this verse the word “shout” appears twice, once as the verb form of Teruah and a second time as the noun form of Teruah.

Although this verse mentions the sound of the shofar(ram’s horn), the two instances of Teruah do not refer to the shofar. In fact, in this verse, Teruah refers to the shouting of the Israelites which was followed by the fall of the walls of Jericho. This is interesting because in Zech. 9:14 – the prophet says, “…And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Paul says, “Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, so with Him God will also bring those who have fallen asleep in Yeshua. For this we tell you, by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall in no way precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the blast of God’s shofar, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left behind, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air—and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. ”So, as we see, the shout and shofar go hand-in-hand. This correlates how the Father really sees this season – as one of gathering His people, sanctifying them, and demonstrating victory for His Name’s sake.

This is prefaced by obedience and returning to the Lord before He demonstrates His magnificence to the world on behalf of His people. Folks – if there ever was a time to prepare – it is now…Our nation’s turmoil – Israel’s war and impending 2nd front, abounding of sin and depravity, along with other wars and all else we are facing in this nation and the world – we need to be before the Lord like never before -I encourage you – take the time to seek Him these next 10 days and Watch what He will do. Hosea 6:1-3 says in reference to the grand return of the Lord – and Israel at that time

“Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. ”Shalom in this season –

Make it special for you and your family
